Website redesign that protects what already works

A new design for an existing website, with the URLs, content and search visibility worth keeping carried across properly.

Old website layout beside a modern redesigned version of the same site

A redesign is worth considering when your site looks dated, is awkward on mobile, loads slowly, is hard to update, or simply is not producing enquiries. The risk with a redesign is losing what already works: pages that people find through search, links from other sites, and content that explains your business well.

I start by reviewing the current site: its pages and URLs, page titles and descriptions, internal links, and any search data you can share from Google Search Console. Then I design the new site around your goals while keeping useful URLs where practical and redirecting any changed URL to its closest equivalent, rather than sending everything to the homepage.

Who this is for

This suits businesses whose website is several years old, was built by someone who is no longer available, or no longer matches how the business presents itself. It also suits sites that have real search visibility or backlinks that should not be put at risk.

What you receive

  • Review of existing pages, URLs, metadata, links and available search data
  • New responsive design, built to your current goals
  • Content kept, improved or consolidated page by page
  • A redirect plan so changed URLs point to the closest equivalent page
  • Checks for broken links, missing images, accidental noindex tags and duplicate URLs before launch
  • Help submitting the sitemap to Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools, and post-launch monitoring advice

How it works

  1. ReviewI go through the current site and its search data to see what should stay.
  2. PlanWe decide which pages are kept, improved, merged or removed, and map redirects.
  3. Design and buildThe new site is designed and built, with content migrated.
  4. CheckLinks, redirects, metadata and mobile layout are checked before launch.
  5. MonitorAfter launch we watch Search Console for errors and changes.

Worth knowing

A redesign can change search performance, up or down, for a period or longer. Preserving URLs and redirecting properly reduces the risk, but it cannot be guaranteed away.

If the existing site runs on WordPress or another platform, we decide together whether to keep the platform or move to a different build.

Common questions

Will I lose my Google rankings?

I cannot promise rankings will stay the same, and nobody honestly can. Keeping useful URLs, redirecting changed ones correctly and monitoring Search Console afterwards are the steps that protect you best.

Can you reuse my existing content?

Yes, wherever it is accurate and useful. I will suggest what to keep, what to tighten, and what is missing.
